American Fintech Council elects Martha O’Malley chair

The American Fintech Council (AFC), the premier industry association representing responsible fintech companies and innovative banks, has announced today that Martha O’Malley, Assistant General Counsel at Prosper Marketplace, has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Prosper is a founding member of AFC and O’Malley has served as a board member since inception, including most recently as Chair of the Board Budget Committee.

“As a founding board member, Marty helped build AFC from the ground up and is responsible for making us the fastest growing and most successful advocacy organization representing responsible fintech companies and innovative banks,” said Phil Goldfeder, CEO of the American Fintech Council. “Marty has become one of my closest friends and trusted advisors and I’m thankful for her steadfast dedication to AFC and our mission.”

An accomplished attorney with broad experience working in fast-paced and highly regulated environments, O’Malley serves as an Assistant General Counsel and senior advisor on legal issues relating to fintech consumer financial services. In addition to legal work at Prosper, she also supports governmental relations efforts, including state and federal public policy issues, and represents the company with state and federal regulators.
